God Speaks Through Super Bowl?

Arise 5 Weekly Update: Feb 8, 2017; 12 Shevat, 5777

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things” (Heb. 1:1–2).

“But the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12).

“Don’t you say, ‘There are four more months and then comes the harvest?’ I tell you, look up and see that the fields are already white for harvest!” (John 4:35).

God Speaks Through the Super Bowl?
A Year of Surprises and Unprecedented Victories

One of the most pleasant surprises of walking with the Lord has been the discovery that He speaks to us in so many ways. First and foremost, of course, is through the Bible. Most believers also know that He speaks to us via our conscience and also to our spirit with His “still small voice.” This is basic and is for every believer. I can still remember the very first time the Lord spoke to me. I was probably still in preschool. Our family was traveling home from church on treacherous country roads (in Canada) and cars were getting stuck all around us. The Lord spoke to me urging me to pray. I did, and we got home trouble free. It was kind of a defining moment in my life.

We also know the Lord speaks to us today through prophecy. I continue to be amazed at how people’s lives are turned around by a prophetic word they received. There is also corporate prophecy where the Lord lets the whole body of Christ know what He wants to do.

But there are even more ways that God uses to speak to us. He often shows or confirms things through daily events. Monday, I was at home watching the Super Bowl (American Football Championship Game). I don’t particularly care for either team, but decided to cheer for the Patriots. But I soon felt it was a bad choice and they were down by a significant amount. They played well, but just couldn’t break through to score. All seemed lost.

Except they didn’t lose. Against impossible odds, they overcame a huge point gap and tied the game. And yes, it required some “miraculous” plays. But then in overtime, they were an absolute juggernaut.

So I asked the Lord if there was some kind of lesson for us in this, and I feel He said there was. From the last few months, I have been reading and listening to what prophets around the world are saying. The recurring themes are as follows:

  1. Unprecedented revival
  2. God moving in powerful ways
  3. The Lord’s promises that what we have been waiting for will now come to pass
  4. Reformation in nations
  5. Entering the beginning of the greatest harvest ever

Those are incredible prophecies and promises. Nor are they vague regarding timing. All of them are saying that now, 2017, is the year this begins.

The Super Bowl illustrates this. That now is the time of victory, and that the Lord through His church is unstoppable. We, the church, have been in a long battle. We have seen victories here and there. And by the grace of God, we have done our part and have allowed ourselves to be prepared. But it’s always like the “victory” hasn’t come. Often when we thought there would be breakthrough, there hasn’t been.

In the Super Bowl, the Patriots played well but regardless of their efforts the other team seemed to have the upper hand. But as the end of the game drew near, everything changed. The Patriots became a force to be reckoned with. They tied the game. That alone was unbelievable considering how far behind they were.

But it didn’t stop there. In overtime, they were unstoppable.

To me, this is a picture of what we are now entering into. The seemingly huge advantage of the enemy is being overcome. The Lord Himself is leading us. We will be able to take back lost ground, but we won’t stop there. We are entering overtime.

We will see grace poured out like never before. God is unstoppable. The church is now moving ahead like never before. Great, great harvest is coming. All glory to Him!

Thanks for praying.

Sano Apostolic Center at Work

Last weekend, I was in Sano for an Arise 5 network meeting. I am so glad for how the Lord has led us in committing to gathering together (a strategy He gave to Mike, who leads Arise 5 Japan). A few weeks ago, I wrote how that commitment to aligning has brought such anointing and God’s presence. Last weekend was the same. Besides it being a great meeting, I knew we were opening the heavens over the home areas of those who gathered.

Additionally, on Saturday we ordained two women, Yoshie Kurumatani and Etsuko Nagai, who have long walked with us. What a blessing to set them into their fivefold ministry calling as apostles! They then joined us in laying hands to bless two more who have opened their homes for ministry. I hope we see many, many more begin to do this.
