“Though war should rise against me, even in this will I be confident” (Ps. 27:3).
“Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us” (Neh. 4:20).
“Though War Should Rise against Me, I Will Be Confident”
I woke up this morning with the realization that we have entered into a time of intense warfare and that we needed to rise up strongly. Thus when MPP started, I emphasized blowing the shofar because that is when the Lord fights for us (see Nehemiah 4:20 above). And of course yesterday (August 29) we got a vivid confirmation that we are in “spiritual warfare” when North Korea launched a rocket that flew right over northern Japan. It happened during MPP. Quite interesting to say the least.
Now what about this spiritual warfare? Going back to the story of Gideon, we see the enemy always came during harvest time because that was when there was the most to steal. We can correctly conclude that this warfare now is because it is harvest time. The devil knows this and wants to steal the fruit.
How should we be? Be visible and vocal. Gideon’s men not only blew the trumpets, but they also boldly released the flares/torches. They were no longer hidden by darkness, but were visible in the light. That light and visibility brought fear and confusion to the enemy.
Those men also shouted. “They held the torches in their left hand and the trumpets in their right. Then they yelled, ‘A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!’” (Judg. 7:20). The shout added to the confusion and turmoil. The angelic army came and the enemy was routed. The Lord has already placed a shout of victory deep inside of us. In Numbers 23:21, we read, “The Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a King is among them.”
So, be confident! Be vocal and visible. The more we are, the more the Lord and His angels are there to help. Remember we’re in the month of Elul; it’s about triumph and relates to the tribe of Gad whose name means “a troop comes” and “he shall triumph” (Gen. 30:11; 49:19).
I feel God wants to give us a bigger victory than we think. When Gideon’s 300 blew their shofars and lit their torches and shouted, this turned into a complete disaster for the enemy. Not only was that army defeated, but they were also completely driven from the land. Your being confident in the Lord during this battle will result in hidden enemies being exposed. You will begin to see more fruit in your life, in your family, and in your work or ministry.
Thanks for praying.

Month of Elul (Aug. 23–Sept. 20): Be Sure to Be Aligned!
I love celebrating firstfruits each month. And although I have been doing it for a long time, I feel the Lord prompting me to be even more intentional in doing so. Paying attention to the blessings of each month is actually connected to daily walking in the Spirit. So, not only be confident in the Lord (see article above), but let’s also remember this month is all about making sure we’re aligned with the Lord and those He has for us to walk with.
Don’t worry about the past. Just make sure this month you are aligned with Him.

Evangelistic Broadcasting in Japan
We’ve started releasing evangelistic broadcasts for Japan. The content is available on iTunes (please subscribe and leave a review), as well as on our YouTube channel. (I speak in English and it’s interpreted into Japanese—so English speakers, have a listen!)
I have so enjoyed the past few of days of MPP (we restarted this Monday after a few weeks off). It seems more people than ever are listening. Two weeks ago, Prophet Michelle Gulland prophesied the following to me: “MPP will grow bigger and will have much more impact than you think.”
MPP can also be seen on my Facebook page.
- Sept. 2, Arise 5 Japan, Sano
- Sept. 4–13, Overseas three-city ministry trip
- Sept. 18–20, Japan Gathering, Nagoya
- Sept. 20–22, Open Heaven Japan, Okinawa (Arise 5)
