Breaking Financial and Provisional Siege
“For the Lord had caused the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses—the noise of a great army … Therefore they arose and fled at twilight, and left the camp intact—their tents, their horses, and their donkeys—and they fled for their lives” (2 Kings 7:6–7).
“And raised up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece” (Zech. 9:13).
One of the reasons I enjoy writing this weekly update is that I can share what the Lord is doing or saying to us right now. Recently, I realized He wants us to press in for financial breakthrough and that a key was exuberant, passionate warfare praise. I had this sense that if people would really break loose and praise the Lord in dancing and shouting, they would see financial miracles.
I feel our dancing will have the same effect as that of the shuffling feet of the four lepers walking to the enemy camp hoping to find scraps to eat (see 2 Kings 6:24–7:20 for the story of how God broke the siege of Samaria in twenty-four hours). There, they found the camp hastily deserted. All the food, animals, equipment, and supplies had been left behind. Why? Because the angel army marched along with those four lepers and God caused the sound of their marching to be heard—the enemy left everything as they fled in terror. I believe this is a picture of what can happen for us.
Two more items of note are as follows:
First, this is the month of Cheshvan and the Lord wants us to deal with issues. If we don’t, then we can expect a flood again and again. Perhaps an issue is fear of lack of finances, or fear that God won’t provide. If so, you have to deal with that. Confess, renounce, and choose to believe the promises of God. He is Jehovah-Jireh, “God will provide.” God wants to remove that fear from our bloodline.
Second, if you have been besieged financially, don’t berate yourself. Instead, thank God that He is using this to make you more reliant on Him. Just today, the Lord led me to Zechariah 9:13, which states, “And raised up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece.” We are the sons of Zion. We are reliant on the Holy Spirit and walk with Him and in Him. The Holy Spirit in us overcomes the “Greek” mindset of self-reliance. The Lord always has a solution.
By this time next week, I will be in Cairo with a small group of others from the Family Gathering. The Lord is doing incredible things in the Middle East. I ask for your special prayers during that time (Oct. 31–Nov. 3).
Thanks for praying.
